When i was younger, I never realized how important your credit score would be later in life. When I first tried to lease a car, I got denied because my credit score was in the low 600’s. Right then and there, I knew that I needed to build up my score if I ever wanted to buy a car or home again. Much less get a credit card with a lower interest rate. Over the years, my score has gone to as high as 790, and down to 620. I made sure that I always knew what was occurring on the report — if there were late payment reports, old credit cards with the balance paid off or any suspicious activity. Your credit report is possibly one of the most important things to have. It’s also important to make sure you know what is going on with all 3 credit agencies reports, which most lenders review before giving you any type of loan or credit. So as a special offer to my readers on this site, I am giving you the opportunity to have a 7-day FREE trial of 3 Bureau Credit Monitoring plus Credit Report & Score . I used this to test it out, and thought it worked out great. Also one myth I constantly hear, “Does checking your own credit report affect your score?” … NO, it doesn’t. Tell me how it works for you?

This year’s holiday season was a challenging one for us. Although both my wife and I finally have steady jobs and incomes again, it was 40% less than what we were making a few years before. The pinch of less income comes around holiday time, as we start to worry about year end bills and taxes. In addition the need to purchase presents for all of our family, nieces and nephews. This year we decided to make a budget and buy wisely. We utilized the internet looking for discounted prices on
Over the past month, I am happy to say my wife took a job with a great company. Her responsibilities are just as demanding as her previous job, she has to commute an hour to the workplace and it’s 20% less than her previous salary. But during these times, we are thankful for this opportunity. As for me, I am going into the 3rd month of being unemployed (or as a friend said “Early Retirement”). I’ve been in the position before, but it’s always difficult to come to terms that once again, you need to look for work. Over the past months, my daily habits and behavior have changed — sometimes I’m productive and other times I’m just plain lazy. I can tell this has an effect on my relationship as it causes tension when she gets home each night from a long day of work & traffic. I just recently read this
When we moved into our new home, the one thing sticking out like a sore thumb was the backyard. The previous tenant decided not to do up kept on the yard, thus it over grew with weeds. On top of that, the landlord did construction on the house, and his workers dumped the leftover waste in the yard. So here we are on moving day, looking at basically a “Garbage Dump” of a backyard. After a few sighs, we looked at this mound of rumble as an opportunity to create our “Dream Yard”, the kind we always saw in Dwell Magazine.
Actually, here is what is really going down:
Yes, I know Valentine’s Day is this weekend (strange that it’s right after Friday the 13th this year??). There are times I think of this day as made up by the marketing department at Hallmark. But it means a lot to my wife, and to everyone else in the world.
A few years ago, when I was laid off from a previous employer, I was looking for ways to raise cash for our family.
My wife and I over the years have used a number of different software programs to balance our checkbooks.
One of the first things we did was review our monthly budget. The first thing glaring out at us was the monthly cable bill, something like $70+. After doing some research, we realized that most of our favorite shows like LOST, 24, Saturday Night Live and others were replayed on websites in HD …which was better than our current TV. So we ditch cable, kept our internet & sold the TV. We now watch our favorite shows in bed on the laptop, or on a bigger computer monitor. So of our favorite websites to watch shows are
